What if there were tools that you could use to help your students gain clarity about their work and their career - now and in the future? Participants in this session will create statements - a mission statement and a problem-to-solve one-liner - that will provide the foundation to create a Life's Work Plan that outlines their educational, experiential, employable, and entrepreneurial endeavors. These activities have not only been found to provide students with clarity and direction regarding job and careers, but has also been found to be instrumental in increasing retention and graduation rates. This is a highly interactive sessions, where participants will be engaged in writing their own statements, in order to understand the process. We ALL need to be prepared for an unpredictable future!
Workshop Outcomes: Practical + A Mission Statement. + A Problem to Solve One-Liner. + An understanding how to connect two statements to Life's Work Endeavors Worksheet. Theoretical + Detailed information on target career outcomes. + Use of multiple measures to assess students' needs. + Help students narrow down job/career choices and steps to accomplish goal. + Coaching to empower students to take control of their educational goals. + Multiple tools to assess student learning outcomes.
Target Audience: All staff who work with students on major choice/career development.
