The HLUMC Community of Faith is privileged to support to our pastor and his loved ones as Tom recuperates from his upcoming knee replacement surgery on December 28. Tom suggested that the HLUMC congregation can be most helpful in the following ways:
- Providing a few prepared meals in advance that can be frozen and served when family and loved ones are staying with Tom immediately after surgery;
- Providing fresh food on specified days post-surgery, allowing Tom to eat healthfully and with a minimum of effort while he recuperates; and
- Being available in the days/weeks after surgery to drive Tom to appointments, run errands and/or do minor household tasks.
Please Sign Up below if you are able to participate in this ministry.

Instructions:
Tom's primary job in the days/weeks following his surgery will be to recuperate and heal. Please help him conserve energy by keeping your drop-off visits very brief and by not stopping by without advance notice.
Frozen Food - Please bring your frozen meal to HLUMC by December 20. Let Tom know what you brought and where you left it, so he can take it with him prior to his medical leave.
Daily Food - Absent other arrangements, deliveries should be made to 4018E Brannockburn Place, Charlotte, 28211 (Strawberry Hill Apartments) between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.. If Tom or a caregiver will not be at home at the designated date/time, a cooler will be available on the porch to receive your meal gift. Tom is excited about eating healthy foods during his recovery and loves salads, soups, chili w/beans, vegetable (except eggplant), grilled chicken/shrimp and pasta. He is trying to avoid heavy sauces and fried foods. Prepoaring meals for him should be easy because he loves just about everything!
Driver/Helper - Please include your contact phone number when signing up. If Tom becomes aware of a medical appointment to which he will need transportation on a day you have volunteered to drive, he will call you in advance with details. For other errands/tasks, Tom will contact you by phone or email on the day before or the morning of your sign up to let you know how you can be of service. You may not be called upon to help on your assigned day if Tom does not need help on that day.
If you would like to participate in offering a meal or serving as a Driver/Helper but do not have easy access to a computer, please contact Karen Williams -- (704) 293-6868 or [email protected]
