4th Grade Photo Historian (2)

Collect photos from your grade and ensure photos are labelled and categorized for future yearbook in Grade 5. This is a rolling commitment - follow your grade level through 5th grade.

5th Grade End of Year Party: Tues. Jun 1 (6)

Under the direction of the 5th Gr. Room Parents, execute a party at the end of the year (typically the last day of school) to celebrate the 5th graders finishing their years at Westmoor. Yearbooks and t-shirts are typically distributed at this event.

5th Grade Fun Night Pool Party: Fri, August 21 (3)

Coordinates 5th grade event for the students and their parents. Creates and sends save the dates/invitations, plans the event and activities and executes the event.

5th Grade Musical Cast Pizza Party: March TBC (4)

Organizes the cast pizza party held the Friday after the 5th Grade Musical. They get the big Gym for the whole double lunch period.

5th Grade Yearbook (6)

Organizes the 5th grade yearbook creation, including collecting pictures, taking all class pictures, coordinating surveys. Includes working with the yearbook vendor. Would be helpful if you've had prior yearbook history at WM or will have younger.

Art Show: Spring 2021, TBD (6)

Work with Mrs. Havlicek to display student artwork for viewing.

Back to School Bulldog Bash: Sat. 10/3 (6)

New indoor event being planned for 2020-2021 involving a carnival and cake walk- sign up to help plan and run the all-family event!

Baking Committee (15)

Calling all bakers! Please volunteer to make baked goods/desserts for the PTO sponsored teacher/staff meals including the Back to School lunch, Conference dinners, Holiday lunch, and Teacher Appreciation lunch.

Birthday Books

Coordinates the PTO Birthday Book Program. Purchases/replenishes a variety of books that kids can choose from for their birthday (or half birthday for summer birthdays) as a gift from the PTO. Books are located next to the Nurse's office.

Birthday Signs Fundraiser

Coordinates the purchase and distribution of birthday lawn signs to celebrate birthdays of our Westmoor community! Parents pick up/install/return signs at a designated time.

Block Parent

Distributes Block Parent instructions and signs to volunteers. Communicates Block Parent Safety Day to Westmoor families.

Book Fair Fundraiser: Wed 2/10 & Th 2/11 2021 (12)

Coordinate a Book Fair during February PT Conferences.

Cheers to 28 Parent Night Out- Westmoor Rep (3)

Represent Westmoor in the planning and execution of the 2nd Cheers to 28 District Wide Parent Night Out, likely in the Winter of 2021.

Communications & Publicity

Assists President with communications, website, Facebook posts and other modes of communication/marketing for the PTO. Partners with district office on district technologies/website.

Community Connections Events (2)

Organizes and runs community giving/philanthropic events for Westmoor families in support of charities. Committee will coordinate with the district rep and establish the calendar of events for the year and organize volunteers to run each event.

Corporate Fundraising Liasion

Communicate and promote awareness of fundraising with corporate partners such as Amazon / Boxtops / Rockin' Jump / Waterway. No need to attend events.

Cultural Fair: Fri. April 9th

Help coordinate all-family evening event which will be help on Friday, April 9th.

End of Year Family Picnic: Wednesday, May 26 (4)

Coordinates evening event on Westmoor's back lawn to celebrate the end of the school year. Organizes food vendor, DJ/activities, giveaways, ice cream cart or other related activities.

Free Will Fundraiser

Communicates, collects and encourages participation in Westmoor's fundraising campaign, Free Will.

Gift Card Plus Fundraiser for PTO Council

Markets the District 28 Gift Card Plus fundraising program, typically three times a year before major holidays. Promotes the program, collects payment, and distributes the gift cards to Westmoor families after purchase.

Graphic Designer

Work with the PTO President to produce the Back to School Communication Packet. Time Commitment is Summer.

HOH 5K Westmoor Reps (2)

Assist in coordinating a 5K district-wide Fun Run for the Homer O. Harvey Scholarship Fund. The event is typically in the spring. Volunteers may help organize fun runs at recess at school to help with conditioning for the HOH 5K.

Hospitality (13)

Help coordinate/serve catered meals for school staff throughout the school year. Chair(s) will work with restaurants to create a menu and coordinate a team of bakers and servers for Back to School, Conference, Holiday & Staff Appreciation.

Kindergarten Fun Night: Friday, 10/30 (4)

Plan and run a Fun Night on a Friday evening for Kindergarten students and their parents.

Legislation

Learns the Westmoor PTO bylaws, leads the review/updating of the bylaws at least every two years. Keeps partners aware of pending legislation that is relevant to schools.

Marla’s Lunch (2)

Partner with our Marla's School Lunch provider to organize lunches pre-ordered and brought in to Westmoor! Committee Chairs work with Marla to set the menu.

Membership Chair

Communicates and collects PTO Membership Dues from Westmoor families and staff.

New Family Liaison Chairs (2)

Updates New Family Handbook and contacts new Westmoor families who to welcome them to the community. (Late Summer) Attends new family meetings the week prior to the start of the school year and has a small gift for new 1st to 5th graders at Westmoor.

Assist school photographers in checking off kids who will get their school photos taken. Alert the teacher if a kid needs help with a last minute hair fix or needs their face wiped.

Pizza Lunch Thursdays (3)

Organizes pizza lunch days for each Thursday of the school year. ** Note - there will be a separate Sign Up in the FALL for parents to sign up to help serve.

PTO Headquarters (4)

Set up and run PTO Headquarters for "Meet the Teacher" and "Curriculum Night". Field any questions, help navigate Paperless PTO for parents, answer volunteer questions.

Room Parent (30)

Volunteer to be a room parent for your child’s class (pls note grade)- you will be notified if you were matched to your child's class in Aug when class assign. are made. Gr. 5 Room Parents responsible for chairing End of Year Party for Fifth Graders.

School Supplies Fundraiser (5)

Committee Chairs partner with teachers in the spring to create supply lists for each grade. They also manage vendor relationship, distribute order forms and coordinate distribution of school supplies in the fall. Time Commitment: 5-10 hrs in mid-Aug.

Sister School in Kenya- Westmoor Rep (2)

District 28 adopted a sister school in Kenya over a decade ago. Committee members keep the district schools apprised of what's happening with Sister School in Kenya, including our annual fundraiser, Family Fun Day, and fifth grade letter writing. Time co

Spirit Wear Fundraiser (6)

Coordinates the sale of Westmoor spirit wear in the fall. Negotiates prices, collects orders and payments and deliveres items. Attends New Family events and is available the first morning of school to support back to school sales.

STEM Night: Friday, 1/22/21 (15)

Support Science! Volunteers will help plan and promote this popular event. No specific science expertise is required of volunteers.

Teacher Appreciation Week Special Events (2)

Organizes special activities for the teachers during the week of Teacher Appreciation Week in May.

Teacher Raffle Fundraiser (5)

Coordinates with Westmoor teachers and staff to offer amazing donated raffle prizes to the students. Facilitates teacher donations, ticket sales and awarding the raffle prizes. Typically occurs during the Back To School Bulldog Bash.
