Don’t Just Do Something, Stand There

Human development is about the real freedom ordinary people have to decide who to be, what to do, and how to live. Primary, LE and UE parents must realize why independence, freedom with responsibility and self awareness for the developing human being starts at birth and doesn’t end...even through adulthood.

Don’t Just Do Something, Stand There

Join us for an astute presentation and discussion on the importance of freedom and limits and how it promotes independence in a Montessori classroom and in life! How positive growth and change encourages natural development, beginning at birth and continuing through adulthood. Take a look at age-appropriate tasks and our fundamental capacities needed to be decision-makers, problem- solvers and contributors to society.

Erin Oliver has a B.S. in Psychology from Towson University and an AMI Diploma from The Montessori Institute, Denver CO. Erin grew up in a Montessori household as Ms. Arminio’s (LE teacher at FOCO Montessori School) daughter. She is a Montessori educated person: Primary through Upper Elementary. Erin has worked in both the private and public Montessori sectors. Presently, she teaches in Denver in an Assistance to Infancy Community. Erin’s insight into her own lifespan gives credence to the importance of “age-appropriate” developmental tasks. Tasks to be achieved at each stage.

Erik Erikson and Carl Jung proposed stage theories of human development that encompass the entire life span, and emphasized the potential for positive growth and change. By providing an environment that supports natural development, Montessori education enables children to develop the fundamental capacities that they need to become happy and fulfilled adults who contribute to society
