Parish of Saints Joachim & Anne / Shakopee Area Catholic School

Mass Attendance

We look forward to seeing you in the pews! As we move into the first phase of resuming limited public Masses, we are being prudent and patient, observing the necessary protocols established by the Archdiocese of St. Paul & Minneapolis (ArchSPM) for the health and safety of our entire community. We appreciate your patience and your desire to return to the Eucharist! You can find more information on our website regarding Mass, Adoration, why we are using only one church at this time, and alot more. Visit: SSJACS.org.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED! We are limited to the number of attendees we can have in the church at a time. Our current policy is that each SJA household may sign up for one Mass per week. Our weekly schedule runs from Monday to Sunday. This will ensure that we provide the opportunity to attend Mass to each person who wants to do so. Please change the quantity to reflect all members of your family attending Mass.

All Masses will be at our SJA - St. Mark campus: 350 Atwood St S, Shakopee, MN 55379. The hours and location account for necessary sanitization protocol after daily Mass and SJA ability to care for your health.

YOU ARE DISPENSED FROM ATTENDING MASS! The Archbishop has continued to dispense the faithful from the Obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days. You may stay home and continue to watch our live-streams.

IF YOU ARE SICK, PLEASE STAY HOME! If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms: shortness of breath, new onset or worsening cough, sore throat, muscle pain, chills, fever 100.4 degrees or higher, and/or loss of taste or smell.

BEFORE MASS:

  • Wear a mask! If you are older than 2, you are strongly urged to wear a face mask. Please bring one from home.
  • Sanitize your hands! We will have sanitizer, but please consider bringing your own.
  • No crowds! We may only use 25% of the seating capacity in any church. Specific pews will be designated for seating.
  • Sign up before you come! You must sign up in advance to attend a Mass. If you are having problems with this sign up please call the parish office at 952-445-1319 during regular office hours Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 4 pm.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE:

  • Wait for doors to open 30 minutes before Mass! No pre-Mass prayer gatherings at this time.
  • Use marked entrances! Only certain entrances will be open.
  • Wait to be seated! An usher will seat you.
  • Stand back! Maintain a safe distance of at least 6’ from people not in your household.
  • Be safe! Put on your mask before you come in and sanitize your hands when you enter.
  • Follow best hygienic practices! Avoid touching your face, and cover coughs and sneezes.

DURING MASS:

  • Hands-Free! Please no holding hands, handshaking, hugging, or high-fiving.
  • No congregational singing! It makes us sad, too, but for now, you’ll need to sing in your heart.
  • Communion will be after Mass! Please follow these guidelines for all to safely receive the Sacrament.

COMMUNION:

  • Remain in your pew: the priest will bring Communion to you! Please kneel or stay seated.
  • Receiving: when the priest comes to you, he will say, "The Body of Christ."
    • Keep your mask on and say, "Amen."
    • Remove your make and extend both hands, keeping your palms flat.
    • The priest will place the host on your hand.
    • He will not touch your hands unless YOU move your hands or try to take the host from him.
    • Consume the host and replace your mask.
  • Offer a brief thanksgiving in your heart and exit the church in the direction the ushers indicate.

AFTER MASS:

  • Go in peace! You must leave the building immediately after you are dismissed.
  • Go to your car! Make your goodbyes short and at a safe social distance to respect others.

WANT TO HELP?

We need volunteers to usher and to clean the church after Mass. Per Archdiocesan guidelines, volunteers must be under the age of 65, in good health, physically able to do what is asked, friendly, and patient! Please choose the "Volunteer to clean and attend Mass" option when you pick your Mass day and time. If you have further questions regarding the expectations of the volunteer, please feel free to call the parish office.

As Archbishop Hebda reminded us a few weeks ago, “The Gospel calls us to respect and defend the lives of our families, neighbors, and especially the most vulnerable. This sometimes requires sacrificing our own desires for their good.” We all will need to do our best to keep other people safe, and we will need to be flexible as we move forward. We are doing everything we can to ensure that as many people as possible will be able to attend Mass. If we do not follow the guidelines, we may be asked to stop public Masses again. Thank you for understanding.

Read the attached COVID-19 Pandemic Worship Notice, Acknowledgment, and Risk Waiver Form below in the "Related Files". You will be required to check a box upon sign up. Then review the available Mass days and times below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you!

Saints Joachim & Anne, pray for us!

Queridos feligreses,

  • ¡No aglomeraciones!

  • ¡No canto congregacional!

No despedidas Minnesotanas.
