Summer Lunch Volunteers
From June 20-August 29, the First Presbyterian Church in Pitman provides lunches to children in the Pitman School District who are eligible for free or reduced lunches during the school year. Once a week on Wednesdays from 4:30-6:30 PM, parents can come to our church and pick up five lunch boxes for each child in their family. There are both breakfast foods as well as lunch items in each box. None of the items require refrigeration.
In a true community effort, last year we were able to provide 1,155 lunches to the children of Pitman thanks to the help of many, including Wenonah Memorial Presbyterian Church, Pitman United Methodist Church, the First Baptist Church of Pitman, the Pitman Council of Churches, Pitman Food Pantry, and more. We are truly grateful and happy to share this ministry again with you.
Volunteers are needed by Sunday, June 10. On June 15 we will pack boxes from 1-3 PM in Memorial Lounge. Then, from June 20-August 29 we will need volunteers to distribute boxes to families. Pick up time is 4:30-6:30 PM. One volunteer from the First Presbyterian Church in Pitman will need to come in at approximately 4:15 PM to post signage outside. All other volunteers will come in at 4:30 PM. The program runs until and doors close at 6:30 PM.
On the week of July 1, lunches will be given out on Tuesday, July 3, rather than on the Fourth of July holiday.
Thank you to all of our volunteers! Please contact the Church Office at (856) 589-1050 or [email protected] with questions, suggestions, or changes to your availability.
