Each family that has a child participating in Sunday night Youth Group is asked to help with one meal per semester. You will sign up for a slot and work with another volunteer in planning and serving the meal. The sign up lists each night that youth group meets and the dinner theme...you decide what to bring that fits the theme. Please provide a main dish, a side dish, a dessert and beverage. You should plan to provide enough to feed 35 youth and adults. Dinner should be ready to serve in Bradley Hall at 5pm. Paper products, plastic utensils and drink mixes (lemonade and tea) are in the kitchen for you to use. Plan on staying (have a seat and eat with the youth, if you would like!) until after the youth are done eating to clean up. All Highland utensils, serving and cooking dishes should be washed and put away. Wipe down the tables and serving areas and take out the trash. Take all leftovers home with you. Our goal is to leave the kitchen and Bradley Hall as we found it!
We do have some youth with dietary restrictions. Please provide one dairy free/gluten free option of plain fruit/vegetable so all the youth can have at least a small serving. The meal rotations, with suggestions (these are just suggestions of popular items, but you can provide anything that fits in that category!) and approximate amounts include:
Pizza Night: 2 slices per youth
Chicken Night: Fried chicken, Chicken nuggets, chicken casserole...2 pieces of chicken or one casserole serving per youth
Pasta Night: Mac-n-cheese, lasagna, spaghetti....1 serving per person
Classics Night: Tacos, Soup and Sandwiches, Hotdogs....1 item per youth
Popular side dishes include: fruit salad, veggie tray and ranch dip, and salads (caesar, tossed or make your own)
And don't forget dessert! Cookies, popsicles and ice cream are all very popular!
Please provide your contact information in the comment section of the sign up for ease in contacting your partner. Let me know if you have [email protected] or (919)420-0583.
