WHAT: The Rotary Club of Washington DC, along with the Rotaract Club of Washington DC, volunteers with the Salvation Army Grate Patrol on 2 evenings each month. It is always on the 3rd Tuesday and the 3rd Friday of each month. The Grate Patrol is a Salvation Army food van, driven by a Salvation Army employee, that provides meals to clients each evening at about 6 -7 different locations in Washington DC. Rotarians and volunteers will serve meals from the van to the clients at each location. Make it a date night and bring a friend or family member. It will be a night to remember in helping others.
Why should you volunteer?
It is a rewarding experience in giving to those who don't have much to give.
You will bond with your friends and family when you make it a date night.
Bring a teenager and they can get credit with their school for volunteering and learn about life.
You will feel compassion, empathy, and gratitude.
WHO: ALL Volunteers will meet the Grate Patrol Salvation Army Food Van (red and white in color)
WHERE: The corner of 1425 New York Avenue NW, Washington DC 20015 in front of Chase Bank.
This is close to Metro Center and McPherson Square Metro Stations. You can park on the street in metered parking or park in a nearby parking garage.
