Get acquainted with the wonderful Bach Festival musicians--this personal connection enriches every concert we attend. This summer the Carmel Bach Festival will again host more than 100 musicians. To create a home away from home for them and simplify their lives, we provide lunch and dinner during breaks in their rehearsals.
Musician Hospitality volunteers are Servers and/or Drivers. Servers organize and put out the food buffet-style. They are not expected to supply or cook food (it’s donated by local restaurants), although some simple re-heating may be required. Servers also clean up after the meal service and, most importantly, provide a warm welcome.
Drivers pick up the food from one or two scheduled restaurants and bring it to the Sunset Green Room (backstage) 30-60 minutes before the meal is served.
We’ll begin serving lunch and dinner when rehearsals begin on July 2nd, and we’ll continue on most days through the end of the Festival. Server shifts are roughly two & a half hours, and driver shifts take less than an hour. Times vary slightly; please check the sign up slot listings.
We would generally like to have two servers for each meal, but if a large group is expected, you’ll see a third sign up slot.
Please note that the time of sign up slots may change because the rehearsal schedule isn’t finalized until early summer. If shifts are added or your shift changes, you’ll receive an email from a CBF staff member.
Restaurant locations for drivers will be entered a few days before the shift.
