All Countryside students are invited to join the cast of this year’s musical. Auditions are held for children in grades 3-5 to help determine roles and interests. All students who audition will get a part in the play. Large or small, all roles are important! Children in grades K-2 will be invited to participate in the junior cast later in the year and do not need to audition.
Fifth graders: 5th graders who want a role outside the chorus should memorize one of 3 monologues and come prepared to recite it. Additionally, they should come prepared to sing a 1-minute section of a song.
Fourth graders: 4th graders who want a role outside the chorus have a choice to either memorize one of 3 monologues and recite it or read one at the audition. Additionally, they should come prepared to sing a 1-minute section of a song.
Third graders: 3rd graders will be asked to read one of 3 monologues. They also have the option to sing as practice in auditioning, although they will not be assigned any solo singing in the show.
Show tunes from any production are a great choice to sing! For example, your song choice could include “Fly To Your Heart," "Never Smile At a Crocodile," and "The Second Star To the Right."
Please note: Children attending CCC should report to aftercare first and they will be picked up after lunch and returned after the audition. Please inform CCC that your child will be participating in the audition.
All other children should meet in the lower cafetorium.
REHEARSAL INFORMATION: Beginning on October 2nd, rehearsals will be held Tuesdays from 1-3pm as well as on some early release Thursdays from 1-3pm. Not all cast members are called to every audition. Call lists will be emailed to parents ahead of time. Student actors are expected to attend scheduled rehearsals as well as memorize lines, practice songs, and review choreography at home.
