Ron and Nancy Marks own an Macintosh apple orchard. Every year their family chooses a non-profit to share the “fruits of our labor” as apples are harvested Thanks to all our friends, family and church community who came to help pick apples, make apple juice and cut up apples for pies.
This year they have chosen Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp Retreat Ministry in memory of Nancy’s dear friend Brenda Burau, who recently died from complications of Covid. Brenda was an avid fan of the WELCA (Women of the ELCA) Women’s Retreat that her mother started many years ago. She loved to attend the retreats. She was also a swimmer and loved the water.
Proceeds from donations for apples will go to fund an ADA chair for the swim dock, so people with mobility issues can get in the water and cool down on those hot summer days. The goal is to raise $2700 to purchase the chair.
We have half gallons of juice and quarts of frozen apples (peeled, cored and sliced for pies, apple butter, apple crisp or other good recipes using apples) available for a donation. You can order here and pick them up in Missoula. (Nancy will contact you to make arrangements) Suggested donation is $6 for half gallon of juice and $2.50 for quart of pie apples.
You are also welcome to make a donation to the project without the apples or juice!
Donations can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
