Volunteers will hand-pack life saving meals for starving children around the world. Minimum age to volunteer is 5, so this is a family-friendly event. (Adult/child ratios: K-2: 1 student/1 adult; 3-6: 3 students/1 adult; 7-9: 4 students/1 adult; and 10-12: 5 students/1 adult)
Volunteers will need to provide their own transportation to the Feed My Starving Children warehouse in Mesa and should wear closed-toes shoes and be prepared to stand for two hours.
Feed My Starving Children asks for a donation at the event, but there is no fee or obligation other than to serve. Donate as the spirit moves you. Each meal costs 22 cents to produce, and several hundred are packed during the two-hour packing session. Many participants donate $50 based on the number of meals packed.
While the official "PVUMC Serves" service opportunity is on Saturday, June 15. PVUMC organizes members to volunteer monthly at Feed My Starving Children. So if you are interested in this volunteer opportunity either because its volunteer slots are full or because the date does not work for you, please sign in on the waiting list line and someone will be in touch to get you signed up for another date.
