Friends of Taylorsville Lake State Park
March 21 Work Day - 9am-noon - It is still on!
As per CDC regulations: 10 or fewer people per group, everyone at a 6' distance, and no touching.
Work will be in several areas, so keeping a safe distance should not be a problem.
We'll be gathering pre-cut branches, along Park Road, in campgrounds and the day parking lot, then stacking them in a designated area. When trails conditions allow, the branches will be chipped into mulch for the Wildlife Viewing Trail.
Volunteers can also work on the hitching rail pads and surrounding areas. FTLSP has some shovels and rakes or bring your own.
Everyone will need gloves. Pole saws may be helpful and personal protection equipment (safety glasses, ear protection) will be required. Chainsaws are not needed, this weekend.
A UTV/ATV with trailer and/or pickup trucks can be used for hauling branches along the road. There will be limited access for vehicles in the day parking and campgrounds, due to muddy conditions.
All volunteers please meet at Day Use Parking Lot (Park Road) at 9am for the following projects:
-- Gather already-cut branches - PARK ROAD, CAMPGROUNDS, DAY LOT.
-- Stack branches for future mulching - LOCATION TBD.
-- Straighten hitching rail pads, clear downed branches - HORSE CAMP.
-- Trash pick up - HWY. 248 TO PARK ENTRANCE (if time allows).
IF YOU CAN HELP DURING THE WEEK, please email [email protected] The Park Maintenance Director will coordinate work and schedules during the week.
As always, report vandalism and please pick up trash, as able.
*Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required to use chain saws and power equipment. Cut proof pants or chainsaw chaps (chaps are provided by the Park, if needed) are required as well as work boots, gloves and eye protection. A Chainsaw Use Waiver will need to be signed, as well.
