Breakthrough Reach provides opportunities for individuals or groups to use their gifts and talents to bless our community. With weekly outreach and special events, we aim to reach the lost with the love of Jesus.
What to Expect for our Homeless Outreach in Downtown Minneapolis
(The following schedule is a general outline - ministry often requires flexibility!)
5:00 pm – Transportation is available from our office parking lot: Wood Park Office Building, 1020 E. 146th Street, Burnsville. We depart at 5pm sharp.
5:30 pm – For volunteers "North of the River" or those who are on a tight schedule, we meet in the parking lot on the south side of the Historic Wesley Center, 101 E. Grant Street, Minneapolis (free parking). We all work together to load remaining items.
5:45 pm – In the Historic Wesley Center parking lot, we briefly gather as a group for orientation, training and prayer.
6:00 pm – We depart Historic Wesley Center in the Breakthrough Shuttle. Volunteers are encouraged to leave their vehicles in the Church parking lot during outreach.
6:15 pm – We arrive and begin the set-up process for the meal. Breakthrough staff will direct the action, with the expectation that all volunteers will participate in the process of unloading the trailer, set-up, and clean-up.
6:30 - 7:45 pm – The Meal Serving Team will serve the meal and the Prayer Team will talk and pray with the guests.
7:45 pm – We all work to clean and pack up the trailer.
8:20 pm – We arrive back at the Historic Wesley Center where we will wash dishes, debrief and pray.
8:30 pm – We depart for Burnsville/home.
- Ministry does not always allow for us to keep a tight schedule. Please let us know if you are on a tight schedule so we can make accommodations in advance for you.
- Please dress for the weather - Ladies, we encourage you to dress modestly.
- Outreach cancellation - by 3pm on the day of the event if the weather forecast shows a 30% chance of rain or more, we will cancel the event. You will either receive an email or call at that time notifying you.
A WAIVER FORM is needed for each volunteer. Please print a copy, sign, date and bring with. If a minor is attending without a parent or guardian, the Waiver Form must be completed by a parent and brought with the minor to the serving event. Thank you!
We are grateful for your donations! They help us cover the costs of food and other necessities. We suggest a financial gift of $20, but all donations are appreciated. Donations can be given during orientation, or click here to donate.
Weekly / Monthly Scheduled Outreach
We conduct scheduled events throughout the Twin Cities on a regular basis. These tend to be larger outreaches that include cookouts. Please look at our calendar for an event that works well for you.
Special Organized Events
We can customize and facilitate an outreach event for groups of four (4) or more. This may include cookouts, bridge ministry, street ministry, or ministry to a specific people group or culture. Regardless of where we go, our emphasis will be on preparing the group to hear the Holy Spirit, training, prayer, and outreach to provide opportunity for groups to reach the lost on a schedule that works for you.
