GHS Band Uniforms
Welcome to another great season with the Grapevine Mustang Band! There are many areas where you can contribute for the band. Don't worry if you can't work a full shift, just let me know in the comments section what hours you'll be there.
Our first big need is help with the uniform fittings. With GHS under construction, scheduling is tricky but it's too good of a window during the teacher inservice days to pass up.
Help with Uniform Fittings:
- Saturday September 7th - am 10am to 1:30pm
To fit our band, I need 8 volunteers per shift. There are a variety of jobs - most of which require no sewing or measuring! If you know how a hanger works, I can use your skills!
For future reference here are additional volunteer opportunities in the uniform department:
Wednesday Workday (every Wednesday until May) will have 3-4 people to distribute cleaned shirts to appropriate section racks, fix or reissue broken pieces, and prepare laundry bags for the upcoming weeks events. Currently we are set to meet Wednesdays from 1:00-4:00. During "Band-tober" (October) some weeks we will meet more than once per week.
Pre-Performance (Day of Event)- A job in the uniform room to handle last minute issues. They will distribute gloves, T-shirts, mirrors or items not brought to the attention after last performance and set out laundry bags. (Time Commitment: arrive 90 minutes before inspection and stay until kids get on the bus.)
Post-Performance - This person will distribute full Laundry bags to volunteers (volunteers are set up and have been reminded of commitment). Section leaders will bring bags of worn uniform pieces to you and you give bag to the appropriate volunteer or their band student. Take notes from section leaders of uniform pieces broken or in need of repair to be done on Wednesday Workday. (Time Commitment: helpful to arrive at the school before the band, until laundry bags have been distributed about 30-45 minutes.)
Hanger Management - The band will go through 300+ hangers each weekend we have a football game and contest. This can be done at the school or at home. We have the hangers, group them in bundles of 12 so they can be given to volunteers who are laundering uniforms.
Thanks so Much for your Time and Energy,
