Hello Big Backyard Volunteers,
THANK YOU for volunteering to help out with your child's Big Backyard walk, YOU make this walk possible. No previous experience is required; we will provide everything you need for the walk.
Please read over the Grade One Spring walk guide before the walk, on your own time. You do not need to bring this with you, nor memorize. We will have print outs for you at school and we'll review the curriculum together.
Please participate in an on-site training at Harrington on the day of the walk. We'll show you places where you might take students, and discuss key themes of the walk.
NEW SPRING 2019: All trainings will take place for approximately one hour, the hour immediately before the walk with the earliest starting at 8:15am -- morning drop off. If the classroom walk starts at 9am, the training starts at 8:15am; if the walk starts at 12:30pm, the training is at 11:30am, etc.
Please arrive in the lobby of Harrington for the on-site training. We'll start there and then go outside together and preview the activities and locations of the day.
Wear closed toed shoes and appropriate attire for the weather. Walks take place in light drizzle. Watch for emails before the walk in case of rescheduling. Parents must be CORI checked through the Harrington office before the day of the walk. CORI checks are good for 3 years.
Looking forward to a season of many happy discoveries together!
