Thanksgiving Baskets 2019 & Community Night
In our local Lisbon/Woodbine/Mt.Airy community many families, senior citizens, and children rely on our local food pantry in Woodbine for their meals. These Local families do not have the means to have a Thanksgiving dinner with their families and we want to help change that again this year.
On November 22, 2019 from 6pm to 8pm* we are having a Community night at Lisbon Elementary to package 100 thanksgiving meal baskets for the people our community and we will be making a craft for each basket. They will be distributed on Sat. Nov 23,2019 at our local food pantry located at Morgan Chapel UMC.
* Please arrive before 7:30pm as we allow families to make more than one basket at that time if we still need baskets to be put together.
Last year was so successful that we aim to feed 100 families this year. More families show up at the food pantry hoping to get items for Thanksgiving. Any money or items left past the first 100 Baskets will go to but "Holiday" dinner items to be added to the food pantry.
Turkeys, Eggs, and Bacon will be purchased at the Mt. Airy Meat Locker (Wagners) by 4 county Lions Club
The Grill @ Lisbon Will be donating 100 Pumpkin Pies.
Lisbon Families and our Community will be collecting "All the Trimmings"
Other items to help stock the Pantry can be brought that night also. They always need Pet Items, Personal care items, and Non Perishable Food.
All family and community members are invited to help make the baskets and crafts. We ask you to RSVP so that we can be sure to have the space set up for everyone. Contact us if you need special accommodations.
Monetary Donations can also be made by PayPal at LisbonPTA.org
We will also be collecting New and Like new Coats and boots in ALL sizes during the month of November and at Community Night for our local residents. A memeber of the 4 county Lions Club will take them for distributing to children, adults, and senors in our Mt.Airy/Lisbon/Woodbine community during Thanksgiving week.
Gloves and Hats that are collected will be given to HCPSS Pupil Personel Workers to be handed out to HCPSS students who do not have any.
Please send or Bring Ready to Wear items. Unfortunately they are unable to repair and coats (unless someone would like to Volunteer to do so). All sizes are needed from Infant to Adult and Small to Extra Large.
Collection boxes will be by the Check in table at Community Night and By the Lisbon Lion during the month of November.
