Rookies Ready to Learn
Duchesne County School District Early Childhood Program "Rookies Ready to Learn" is a free program providing information and support to parents of preschool age children. Rookie visits are available for pre-k age children. A Rookie visit includes parent, pre-k child, and Early Childhood Program team member working one-on-one. Each visit takes about 30-40 minutes and consists of hands-on kindergarten readiness skills, which include literacy skills, vocabulary skills, colors, shapes, letter and number recognition, and fine motor skills. Literacy Bags that include books and other activities that focus on retell, comprehension, rhyming, predictions and repetition are checked out to be worked on at home and then returned. The visits are conducted at the various elementary schools in the district, including Roosevelt, Duchesne, Tabiona, Myton, Altamont, and Neola. This program is not meant to replace preschool, but be an additional resource. If you have any questions, please call (435) 725-4513. Thanks!
