BIO
Mr.Dean Scarlett is a trombonist, bassist, composer, and arranger. He is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music where he studied Jazz and Theatre Composition. He has had the pleasure to be the orchestrator and arranger on 6 musicals, including an original production sponsored by Harvard University and the American Repertory Theatre. Dean has also had the the pleasure to write and arrange music for numerous jazz ensembles include his own, as well as those under the direction of jazz luminaries such as Greg Hopkins and Ralph Peterson. As a performer, Dean has shared the stage with star acts such as Tia Fuller, Phil Wilson, Greg Hopkins, Ka’umba Frank Lacy, Darcy James Argue, Ralph Peterson, John Hollenbeck, and others. Dean has been recorded on several short film scores, and has backed many independent artists in the studio and live in the NY/NJ area as well as Boston. He has performed at such events and venues as the DC Jazz Festival, Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, Rockwood Music Hall, Nublu, Groove, Brighton Music Hall, MPAC, SOPAC, Berklee Performance Center, Sculler’s Jazz Club, and others.
