WTW Crew 2021 Swim Test

(For new rowers who have not yet taken the swim test)

Please note that the specific details of this swim test are required by US Rowing and scheduling of the swim test requires coordination of coach, facility and staff - individual requests cannot be accommodated.

All new rowers MUST complete a swim test to participate in WTW Crew practices on the water.

This is a one time, not an annual, requirement for athletes.

The swim test must be administered by WTW Crew.

The swim test includes:

1. 100 yard swim, any stroke or combination of strokes, in a swim suit

2. Two minutes of treading water with clothes on (This is to simulate a boat capsizing during cold water practice, clothing would include a long-sleeved shirt and sweatpants or leggings of some kind.)  NEW FOR 2021-Street clothes are not allowed in the pool.  Be sure to bring clothes for the swim test and change once you arrive at Audrey Moore RECenter.  Temperature checks will be taken upon entry to the RECenter.

3. Putting on a personal floatation device, a life jacket, while in the water

The test will start at 1:00pm, please arrive 10 minutes early to be ready for test to start promptly at 3:00pm.

Please bring swim test clothes to change into prior to the test.  Clothes worn outside of the RECenter may not be used for the test.  Be sure to bring a towel and plastic bag for wet clothes.

One parent volunteer needed to assist Coach during swim test and that parent will earn one volunteer credit!
