All students at Kilmer Middle School will be visiting Junior Achievement Finance Park between Tuesday, January 8 and Friday, January 11, 2019. This field trip will provide students with the opportunity to apply what they have learned about financial literacy in both their mathematics and civics classes by participating in a practical budget simulation.
- Tuesday, January 8: Mr. Paine's & Ms. Boyer's students
- Wednesday, January 9: Ms. O'Dell's students
- Thursday, January 10: Ms. Hession's students
- Friday, January 11: Ms. Kleman's students
We need 20-25 adult chaperones each day in order to make this event a success for all of our students!
What is Finance Park? This field trip will provide students with the opportunity to apply what they have learned about financial literacy in both their math and civics classes by participating in a practical budget simulation. Finance Park is sponsored by Junior Achievement.
Kilmer students will arrive at Finance Park at 9:30 am and will depart the facility at 1:30 pm.
What is involved in being a Finance Park chaperone? Chaperones will need to attend training at Junior Achievement Finance Park at 8:15 am on the day of the field trip. This is approximately an hour before students arrive at the facility. The training is to ensure that all chaperones are able to provide guidance and assistance to students. Due to the nature of the Finance Park experience, chaperones will not be spending all day with the group including their son or daughter.
Additionally, chaperones will need to provide their own transportation to and from Finance Park, which is located adjacent to Frost Middle School. Frost is located at 4099 Pickett Road, Fairfax, VA 22032. Chaperones should bring a bag lunch. Parking is available in front of the Finance Park building.
