Sowers of Justice Network
The 2019 Sowers of Justice Network annual 'Sowing a Nonviolent City Conference includes three exciting events. We need volunteers to help us get the word out, register others for events, help us fundraise, work the events and help with registration set up and cleanup at all events.
This year we have added a Food Justice Tour led byThe Passionist Earth and Spirit Center on the morning of October 4.
We also are cohosting a food justice projects dinner at 6:30 pm with JCTA on October 4 for about 100 people at St Paul's United Methodist Church with locally grown and sourced food. This is a fundraiser for Food projects for students from Simmons College to JCPS and to other local universities. Rev. Randall Jones from Owensboro will inspire, projects applicants will be introduced and dinner guests can meet Erika Allen from Chicago Urban Growers collective who will be introduced as our Keynote speaker for the Conference. It would be great to have a good representation from faith communities, schools and justice organizations there.
Saturday, October 5, is the Annual Conference. As usual it will be informative, inspiring and challenging. Wendell Berry will read an original work. Mary Berry, is presenting a workshop on sustainable farming. Andrew Kang Bartlett from the Presbyterian Hunger program and several others will also share info. The sowersofjusticenetwork.org website has all the details for these events. The attached pdf flyer has all the links as well.
