Transfiguration Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Caring for God’s creation means reusing and repurposing whenever possible. We are looking for gently used items to help populate our new young children’s faith formation program starting the fall of 2019, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Many of the items may be things you have already at home, and no longer need. Please consider making a pass through your seldom used items for one or more of the listed items.
They might seem odd but we promise they will all serve a purpose in our space. Some guidelines to keep in mind:
- These items need to be the real deal! Meaning no plastic if at all possible. Only wood, metals (especially brass, silver etc), and glass.
- They also should be able to be handled by a 3 to 6-year-old so should be child-sized
To help manage the materials we are using this sign-up form which lets everyone see what items have already been donated. Also, Kim Fluet will be managing storage of the materials and you can arrange pick up and drop off with her at [email protected] or 585-267-7063(h). Feel free to call with any questions.
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori-style approach to faith formation that we are so excited to be offering to our families for their children starting with 3-6-year-olds in the fall of 2019. Within the Montessori-style of faith formation, children move about freely in a space, called an Atrium, that has a number of items to engage them. As part of the faith formation, they do what are called "practical life skills" to help not only refine motor skills but also to help them grow in their ability to concentrate and to reach a deeper level of age-appropriate prayer.
