What to Prepare for Auditions:
First Time Auditioners: At your vocal audition we will get to know you a bit and then have you sing. Please prepare two songs that you are comfortable singing. They can be from a musical or a pop song you love. Be sure to practice with a backing track so we can hear you sing with music. One of the easiest ways to find an accompaniment is to search Youtube for the song title and karaoke, and options should pop up! If you use a backing track that is not on YouTube, please bring it along with you and we can plug your device into our sound system.
Experienced Performers/ICDT Alumni: Please prepare two contrasting songs that show off your personality, vocal range, and acting ability! If you are interested in a specific role you are welcome to sing one of their songs. Be sure to practice with a backing track and bring it with you (If it’s on YouTube, we can bring it up for you)
*When putting together a cast, we take many things into consideration. We see many auditions each day so the more you can stand out, the better! As you prepare for your audition, keep this in mind*
What we are looking for:
- Character: stage presence, expression, diction, projection, body language, are you telling the story and acting the song?
- Vocal Quality: tone, pitch, projection, range
- Professionalism: focus, ability to take direction, maturity level, past experience, how prepared are you?
Dance Call (optional): If you wish to be considered as a dancer for this show, you must attend one of our dance calls. The dance calls are held each day from 6-7pm and are run like a short dance class. You will be led in a group warm up and taught a piece of choreography to be performed in small groups at the end of the audition.
Now What? If you would like to be considered for this show, please sign up for one of the following time slots and start preparing! If you cannot make one of the audition slots and/or dance calls but would still like to audition, please see below for contact information and we'll work something out!
