REstart IREM Chapter 77

2018 - 2019 REstart Volunteer Sign-Up

We are seeking volunteers in the industry, family and/or friends to serve in many different capacities.  The purpose of the REstart Program is to provide individuals caught in the cycle of poverty, unemployment, homelessness, and domestic violence the opportunity to have a second chance in life. REstart offers participants training, mentoring and job placement assistance leading to careers residential property management. But more importantly, the program offers its graduates restored faith, renewed confidence and reclaimed self-respect. Selected participants will be trained in residential property management through the IREM RES201 course and classes in customer service, business etiquette, and communication skills. After their course work is successfully completed, graduates will have the opportunity to apply for internships in residential property management, with the goal of permanent placement in long-term positions in the residential industry. Your time, your passion, and your commitment WILL change someone’s life.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

COACHING COMMITTEE (8)

Annual commitment of 2 - 3 hours per week. The volunteers for this committee will assist graduates in their job search and provide support in the transition from the classroom to the workplace through the first year of employment.

EDUCATION COMMITTEE (4)

Annual commitment of 1-2 hours per month. The volunteers for this committee will work with the Steering Committee to develop and execute educational components of the REStart Program. The chair should have experience in residential property management.

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE (4)

Annual commitment of 3 - 4 hours per month. The volunteers for this committee will identify companies to donate funds to the REStart program that go to pay for the ceremony, scholarships, course material s, clothing and transportation.

GRADUATE TRACKING

This is an annual commitment of 1-2 hours per month. The volunteer for this committee will maintain program statistics and focus on alumnus. This member needs to have good communication and computer skills.

 

GRADUATION COMMITTEE (2)

Annual commitment of 2 hours per month for 7 weeks. The volunteers for this committee will plan the graduation ceremony for students upon completion of the education track.

 

INTERNSHIP COMMITTEE (5)

Annual commitment of 1-2 hours a week for 12 weeks. The volunteers for this committee will work to provide a match between host sites and students. The goal is to provide on a job learning environment for the program graduates.

MENTORS (2)

This is an annual commitment 1 hour per week. The volunteers for this committee will provide peer support and networking for the students and graduates of REstart. Chairs are selected based on prior involvement in the program.

SHOPPING ASSISTANTS (5)

This is a 1 - 3 day commitment. The volunteers for this committee will help graduates shop for clothing for their job interview and workplace.

 

VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE (2)

This is an annual commitment of 1 hour per week. The volunteers for this committee must have good community contacts, know networking, have volunteer experience and has the ability to motivate and generate enthusiasm in others.

 

EDUCATION TRACK COORDINATION (2)

Need 2 individuals to identify volunteers that will be responsible for room set up during education courses, arranging for breakfast/lunch and ensuring course materials are delivered to the classroom site.
