Rolesville High School Band
Hi Everyone, thanks for volunteering for the Walnut Creek concessions fundraiser! Funds raised will go directly to YOUR students fairshare account. If you like, you may also designate the funds to go to another student or to any student requesting scholarship by letting the band booster's treasurer know how to allocate your time.
Please note the following...
WHERE ARE OUR CONCESSIONS STANDS?
RHS Band Boosters will be staffing the West Plaza Blue Point stand (which is actually kind of two stands, both a permanent stand and a log cabin-ish pop-up stand) and we will be serving craft beer on tap as well as canned craft beer.
WHO CAN VOLUNTEER?
You must be age 18 or older to volunteer.
I know that previously I have communicated some positions could be staffed by those at least 16 however later learned that neither of our stands is eligible for those less than 18 years since we’re selling craft beers and other products containing alcohol (NC State law).
DO I HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF RHS BAND BOOSTERS?
No, anyone meeting above requirements can volunteer. You are encouraged to recruit aunts and uncles and friends to work with you and designate their funds to your student!
DO I NEED TRAINING?
Yes. Both pre-season trainings are already complete. New the Year there is an online option and it take about 90 minutes to complete, https://www.brainshark.com/teamcoalition/coastalcreditunion. I will update on more in person training opportunities as they become available. Training takes about 2 hours and I’ll post those as they are announced. Please sign up for training *before* signing up for volunteering. With exception to team leaders, it is ok to work prior to your actual training as long as a) you’ve committed to training and b) you’re working with others who have received training.
WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE ON THE NIGHT I SIGNED UP TO VOLUNTEER?
The volunteer arrival times indicated are typically 2-2.5 hours before the show's start time. We have received new times from Walnut Creek and I’ll be updating the signups to reflect that. On most nights, team leaders should arrive 90 minutes before doors open and the rest of the team should arrive no later than 60 minutes before doors open.
WHEN WILL MY "SHIFT" END?
11pm end time is my estimate only. No stand will accept sales later than 10:30pm on any night. After that, closing down includes doing money count, inventory count, a bit of cleanup, and turning in the money (where it’s recounted, ipads used for point of sale, etc.
HOW MUCH WILL I MAKE?
To make fundraising as fair as possible all funds raised during the entire season will be divided by the total # of hours during the season to arrive at an "hourly rate." This amount times the total # of hours worked will be allocated to individual fairshare.
WHAT’S A TEAM LEADER?
Team leaders are responsible to arrive at least 30 minutes before the rest of the volunteers, pick up iPads that are used for point of sale, inventory counts and start the process of opening the stand. It’s ok for more people to show up early – it’s easy to divide up the work. Team leaders MUST have received TEAM training prior to working.
WHAT DO I WEAR?
I’m glad you asked because this is important. You MUST wear black pants, capris / “manpris” or shorts. Whichever you choose MUST have a zipper and a button. Nothing with an elastic waist and no athletic wear will be allowed. You MUST wear close toed shoes (any color). No flip-flops or sandals. Anyone appearing for a shift that doesn’t comply with these requirements will be sent home.
Please also wear a Rolesville High School spirit hat from that Athletic boosters, Rolesville CVS or Food Lion. It’s optional but helps promote our cause for better tips.
Since you will be changing into a Walnut Creek polo when you arrive, you may want to wear a lightweight tee or tank top that you can just wear under the polo. When weather cools then a long sleeve shirt under the Walnut Creek polo is ok.
WHERE SHOULD I PARK?
On most nights parking is in a grass field across from the VIP parking lot. When you enter the grounds just follow signs to VIP parking and when you get to the VIP lot turn right onto the grass field instead of left into the VIP lot.
On some of the nights it will be required to park off-site and ride a shuttle in. On these nights it is a good idea to arrive as early as possible to the park because taking the shuttle can take a long time! I will indicate these nights on the sign-up sheets. The address for the off-site parking is:
South East Raleigh High School
2600 Rock Quarry Rd.
Raleigh, NC 27610
WHAT IF I CAN’T MAKE IT THE NIGHT I SIGNED UP TO VOLUNTEER?
If this happens you can call someone from the list of Alternates to see if they’d like to fill in for you. If you don’t have time to find someone then please call the Walnut Creek coordinator (right now, that’s Amanda Isaacs) as soon as you know you won’t be able to make it. This will help us to find someone from the list of Alternates to fill in for you.
Occasionally, there are addittional opennings at stands other than ours, so if you really want to work a show and all slots are filled please email me and I will see if any are available elsewhere.
More info to come! Feel free to email me with questions.
