Art Appreciation (20)

Volunteers present artwork from the PTA collection to their assigned classrooms on a once a month basis for about 20 minutes. A schedule and additional reference material is provided.

Battle of the Books (4)

Parents of participating 4th & 5th graders meet every week from September to March, reading books and preparing for Battle at the Wheaton Public Library.

Jr. Battle of the Books (4)

Parents of participating 3rd graders meet every other week over a 10 week period to help give 3rd graders an idea of how the Battle of the Books program is run for 4th & 5th grade students.

Beautification (10)

No gardening experience necessary! Just a willingness to help pull some weeds and plant some flowers to enhance our grounds in the fall and spring.

Chess Club (10)

The Chess Club meets weekly in the evening and runs from early October through the end of March. Whether you know a little or a lot about chess, volunteers are needed for general supervision at meetings and at tournaments.

Communications (4)

Volunteers help manage various aspects of PTA communication. Roles include maintaining Madison PTA Google Apps, website and Madison Memos newsletter.

DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) Liaison (3)

Attend monthly District DEI Committee meetings. Serve as someone who can keep an eye out for DEI-related issues and share them along with updates from monthly meetings with the school's PTA Leadership Team and Principal

Explore More Day (Kindergarten) (4)

Coordinators plan and facilitate the activities for the kindergarten students

Explore More Day (1st Grade) (4)

Coordinators plan and facilitate the activities for the first grade students

Explore More Day (Grades 2-5) (12)

Committee chairs plan the daylong program of learning from parents, guest teachers and hands on activities.

Field Day (20)

Parents are needed to supervise outdoor activities and games. This event takes place during the school day in late May or early June.

Fifth Grade Celebration (6)

Parents of 5th Graders are needed to plan and supervise this fun end of year event, usually held in the last few days of school.

Go Green (6)

This committee brings more environmental awareness to Madison. Volunteers are needed to help coordinate different events and collections.

Library Learning Center (20)

Helpers are always needed in the library to assist students in checking out books and putting returns back on the shelves. We can work around your schedule! Commitment is for a semester at a time. This can be a weekly, semi-monthly or monthly commitment.

Kindergarten Meet Up (4)

Organize a Kindergarten meet up before the start of the school year for all incoming Kindergarten students

Madison Cares (12)

Help promote good character in all of our students. Volunteers plan and help with various activities during the year. A school-wide service project is also planned for Make a Difference Day in October.

Math Club (10)

Volunteers help run the activities with the kids. They meet during lunch once a month. For kids in grades 3-5.

Meet & Treat (4)

Volunteers are needed to serve up treats. This annual event takes place in August before school starts. Students meet their teachers, see their classrooms and enjoy an ice cream treat in the gym.

Multicultural Day (20)

The sharing of varied heritage from around the world makes this an exciting and educational day. Usually held in November. Sub-committee volunteers are needed for each grade, along with volunteers to teach classes and help instructors in classes.

New Family Welcoming (10)

Volunteers welcome new students by delivering a Madison yard sign the night before school starts.

Pancake Breakfast & Book Swap (20)

Volunteers are needed to plan, help in the kitchen (Madison staffers flip the pancakes!), set up and clean up, as well as work the book swap. This popular event is held during the winter.

Picture Day (3)

Help things go smoothly on picture day in late September. Escort students to photo session. Chairman acts as liaison between vendor and Madison School. Helps ensure timely delivery of photo packages typically by late October.

Reflections (3)

This National PTA contest promotes the fine arts for drawing, music, writing, and photography. Parents can help in promoting the program and stimulating interest (September and October).

Room Parent (40)

Each classroom will have 2 Room Parents. Volunteers will plan and implement the three holiday parties with parents from the classroom. Provide support for teachers, and help communicate with parents. Coordinate teacher appreciation efforts.

Run-a-thon (20)

One day fundraiser at Madison in the fall. This event is coordinated with the P.E. instructors. Volunteers help the day of the event with water stations, tracking laps and other tasks.

School Supplies (10)

Organizes the ordering of classroom school supplies for the students beginning in the late spring for the following school year. Committee chair places order with designated vendor. Volunteers help sort and deliver to classrooms by 1st day of school.

Spirit Wear (3)

Help coordinate the design, order, distribution and sale of Madison Spirit Wear throughout the year.

Staff Appreciation (10)

Help us show the Madison staff just how much we appreciate their efforts in helping our kids. Appreciation is shown through quarterly events with the final event being held in conjunction with national Teacher Appreciation Week in May.

Trivia Night (20)

A PTA social and "FUN"draising event held in the fall. Teams compete by answering sets of trivia questions. Help plan and implement this fun, social experience for Madison parents and staff.

Winter Carnival (20)

Planning, passing out raffles, selling treats -- these all require parents and families to help with our ever popular winter event. Winter Carnival is held in late winter.

Yearbook (6)

Volunteers are needed at each grade level to take digital photos of school activities throughout the year and help in the assembly of the yearbook. The bulk of the work is done in January and February. Fun computer software is provided for each volunteer
