Join us for a potluck meal every second Saturday this program year! Gather from 5:15 - 5:30; eat together; an interactive program may (or may not) be offered (for all ages or parallel programs for adults and kids) at 6:30, cleanup and go home by 7:30. You can cook something elaborate, bring chips and dip, or grab some take out. All ages and stages of life are welcome.
NOVEMBER is a combined event with Rev. Neal's Meaning in Movies showing of About Schmidt. Warren Schmidt, portrayed by Jack Nickolson, has led a safe, predictable life working in the insurance business in Omaha, Nebraska. Upon his retirement, he embarks on a journey to his estranged daughter's wedding, only to discover more about himself and life than he ever expected. This movie offers the ideal launching pad for a discussion on life's meaning and purpose after retirement. The film will immediately follow the potluck. We'll also show The Secret World of Arietty for the kids. In this animated film, a boy is sent away to a country house where he makes friends with a girl who is only a few inches tall and lives with her family of 'borrowers' under the floorboards. Childcare will be provided for children too young to enjoy the movies.
