Marion Co. Master Gardeners - Public events
In this workshop, Master Gardener Michael Johnson will show you fruit tree pruning basics using his dwarf trees (apple, pear, peach, and plum/prune). With hand pruners and loppers Mike will lead you through what, where, and how to prune so you can skillfully prune your own fruit trees.
He’ll teach you what he did to remove his 30’ tall trees while converting to an easy to prune, stand-on-the-ground, no-more-ladders, safe, easy to pick, lots of fruit, back yard orchard. You’ll leave with tips for selecting the just-right tree, plus fertilizing, irrigating, and growing trees in a small space, including the use of sentinel (narrow-growing) apple trees...and much, much more.
