Marion Co. Master Gardeners - Public events
Presenters: Michael Johnson, Carl & Joyce Heinke, OSU Master Gardeners
When you complete this hands-on workshop you’ll know how to graft to create a new tree (scion cutting onto rootstock) or attach add another variety (scion onto existing tree limb). Bring your smart phone – you’ll want to take pictures to show others what you learned.
Master Gardeners will demonstrate that with a sharp knife, simple cutting (aka whittling), and a piece of tape, you can make a scion graft.
Bonus: Create your own tree. You can make your own tree and take it home. Purchase a rootstock, select a scion. Graft it on site or take it home
New in 2019: Curl-resistant scions - Peaches, Plum, Prunes
Rootstock & Scion wood prices:
• Dwarf & very dwarf apple rootstocks ………….. $5/ea
• Dwarf stone-fruit rootstock……………………… $7/ea
• Scion (apple, peach, pear, plum, prune)………… free
