Marion Co. Master Gardeners - Public events
Repeat of February 2 workshop
Presenter: Frankie Osborne, OSU Master Gardener
Drip irrigation is one piece of water-wise and sustainable gardening. Drip and low-volume irrigation systems can stretch available water supplies and reduce water consumption in the home garden while improving the health of plants. This workshop will introduce home gardeners to the process of installing a drip irrigation system in their own gardens while avoiding common set-up mistakes, thus saving time and money.
You will learn:
- The advantages and disadvantages of drip irrigation, where to put drippers, and the basic set-up manifold from hose bib (faucet) to emitters at the base of a plant.
- The process of calculating how many emitters can be attached to how long a line and how to evaluate the flow rate of your water source.
- The variety of connectors, tubing, driplines, soaker lines and emitters available and their applications.
Participants will leave with a working knowledge of drip irrigation assembly and how to design and install a system of their own.
