Weekend Bag Volunteers
LIFE Food Pantry provides "weekend bags" for the kids who are in the free breakfast and lunch program at Loveland Schools from Kindergarten up to grade 6. These bags have an assortment of food to help bridge the days while not at school. (Examples from past bags: can of ravioli, can of soup, can/pkg of chicken or tuna, mac and cheese, oatmeal, granola bar, fruit cup, pudding- items kids can easily fix for themselves.)
We provide these bags about twice a month and always on the long weekends. Last year we had 95 students registered in LPS, LES, LIS and LMS. Volunteers take about an hour to pack bags and then we deliver them to the various schools. (LMS switched to a pantry format last year so we now just deliver food in bulk to be stocked in their pantry cupboard.) For the 2019-2020 school year we are adding LECC kindergarten and grade 1 students.
If you would like to help out on "weekend bag" assembly days, please look for those dates on this Sign-Up. All Weekend Bag packing is done at Prince of Peace church. Please park on the far side of the church and walk up the ramp at the back of the church and use the first two doors. Please check schedule carefully as there are varying days of the week and an occasional afternoon slot.
If you would like to make a donation, simply drop off at the L.I.F.E. food pantry, 101 S. Lebanon Rd., Wed./Sat AMs, or Mon/Th after 4, OR at Prince of Peace church, same address, in the foyer in the wooden storage bins, with your bag marked "Weekend Bags" whenever the church is open, or contact Dawn Caines if you need to make other arrangements.
Thank you so much for your consideration and your help.
