Job 1: Volunteer Check In / Packet Pick Up
Description: Check in & check out volunteers, obtain signatures on event waivers and photo release; distribute volunteer badges, and discuss assignments. Set up and restock volunteer work area with beverages and supplies. Brief volunteers on site layout. Brief volunteers on emergency procedures. Alert Shift Managers of volunteer shortages. Communication site for volunteers.
Preferred skills: Punctual, organizational skills, friendly; strong communication skills, ability to work in a fast-past and demanding environment; respond quickly to requests from Event Managers; ability to read and understand event diagrams; communicate directions and assignments to volunteers; ability to lift 15- 20 lbs.
Minimum Age: 18
Job 2: General Area Clean Up / Trash Pick Up
Description: Roam event venue, collecting trash from bins that are at capacity, replacing bins with new trash bags, and taking trash to designated collection area; tearing down trash bins at the end of the event. Roam event venue, identifying opportunities to clean up trash or other items detracting from the aesthetics of the event. Preferred skills: ability to identify areas in need of clean up, ability to alert event managers of any areas or situations requiring special treatment.
Preferred skills: Manual dexterity, ability to walk/stand for long periods of time, ability to lift full trash bags out of trash bins and place new bags in the bins; communication skills to alert event managers of the need for additional trash supplies.
Minimum Age: 16
Job 3: Patron Services
Description: Welcome and direct guests to various event activities; be alert to behavior that may cause a disruption to the enjoyment of the event and notify appropriate event managers of any potential issues. Be the eyes and ears of the shift management team around the event. Mobile teams of two during the event.
Preferred skills: Punctual, friendly with good communication skills; ability to walk/stand for long periods of time.
Minimum Age: 16
Job 4: Big Concert Ticket Scanners with Scanner Operations
Description: Welcoming guests in a polite and friendly manner. Checking and scanning tickets. Must have some technology familiarity to manage scanning tickets. If any issues arise, must show leadership skills to feel comfortable escalating to event manager for assistance.
Preferred skills: Punctual, friendly with good communication skills; ability to walk/stand for long periods of time.
Minimum Age: 18
Job 5: Alcohol ID / Wrist Bands Booth / Beer Tent Ticket Sales (Jaycees)
Job 6: Big Concert Stage Set Up
Description: Assemble stages. Set up backdrops. Set-up chairs. Pick-up gear from storage locations. Put up sponsors signs up. Set-up tea and coffee. Set-up tables for Sound persons.
Preferred skills: Must be able to handle heavy lifting. Wear good shoes and check the weather report before you leave your house.
Minimum Age: 18
Job 7: Big Concert Stage Tare Down
Description: Remove stages. Remove backdrops. Remove entries. Stack chairs. Transport gear to storage.
Preferred skills: Must be able to handle heavy lifting. Wear good shoes and check the weather report before you leave your house.
Minimum Age: 18
Job 8: Runner
Description: A team of volunteer runners can fill in the gaps or even take over a role for a no-show volunteer.
Preferred skills: Punctual, friendly with good communication skills; ability to walk/stand for long periods of time.
Minimum Age: 16
Job 9: Kids Area
Description: Set up and clean vendor booth in preparation for kid activities. Provide assistance to hired vendor for children activities.
Preferred skills: Punctual, friendly with good communication skills; ability to walk/stand for long periods of time.
Minimum Age: 16
Important Volunteer Information
- If you are unable to fulfill your shift, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can give another volunteer the opportunity to help.
- Make sure you wear comfortable clothing and keep in mind that we will be outside. The event is rain or shine, so it is important that you come prepared for anything.
- You are responsible for all personal items. Please make sure items are carried with you during your shift.
