St Raphael Church
This is the Fourth Sunday of Easter and we hear about Jesus being the Good Shephard. A good shepherd is a good shepherd because of his self-sacrificing love. Last week we heard about how some were disappointed because they felt the Messiah couldn't be killed let alone in such an undignified way. In John's Gospel, he emphasizes that Jesus' death was not a defeat; that he was not overcome by the power of evil. Rather, Jesus freely chose to lay down his life for the people. Why? Jesus freely chose to die in order to make God the Father's knowledge and love for the people known to them. Jesus also emphasizes the importance of the unity of the flock: "they will hear my voice...and there will be one flock, one shepherd." Jesus' flock includes the entire human race and all the generations yet to come who believe through the words of those who gave witness to Jesus. That is why Jesus is the Good Shephard.
The 10 am Sunday Mass will continue to live stream for those who are not able to attend in person or who do not feel comfortable attending due to health risks.
You MUST SIGN UP to be able to attend as we are still limited in the number of people allowed in the church at one time.
We hope each of you will continue to celebrate Mass in person or at home, pray and feel his LOVE through the Blessed Eucharist
God Bless You!
