What is a Makerspace?
CMES is proud to announce the initiation of a makerspace for the 2018-19 school year. This is funded by a grant, PTO fundraising, and hopefully...YOU!!
First, let me explain what a makerspace is. A makerspace is a place for our students to think critically, create, solve real world problems and use their imagination to solve problems. The students will be able to experience the makerspace at least once a week during their designated library time.
Their classroom projects will be enhanced with this time, plus just time to create, imagine and learn! If you are a visual learner below is a one minute video that describes the purpose of a makerspace.
Our makerspace will include 10 stations that our students researched, presented and determined would benefit ALL of our kids. Below is a link that describes all of our proposed stations.
Do you have a passion for one of these? Could you share your expertise? If not your time, can you make a material donation? The possibilities are endless!! I also have shared a makerspace Pinterest page to see some of the activities we are envisioning at the stations. Feel free to collaborate with us. If you are interested, please contact me at 937-289-2515 ext.4402 or [email protected]
