8 & Under Mini Meet
Saturday, June 15, 2019
Warm-Up- 8:00 a.m.
Meet Start- 9:00 a.m.
*Pre-Team swimmers are not invited to swim in this meet*
WAC has the honor of hosting the 8 & Under Mini Meet again this year. This is not a mandatory meet for 8 & Under swimmers, but is lots of fun. Parents have the choice of signing up their 8 & Under swimmer(s) and paying a small entry fee. We highly encourage all families with an 8 or under swimmer to participate, but we need loads of help to pull this off. If you have an 8 or under swimmer who is signed up, please commit to working this meet as one of your required shifts. If you don't have an 8 or under swimmer we STILL need and welcome your help. This is a fundraiser for the entire team and there are nearly 90 volunteer slots to fill! This meet takes place on Saturday morning as opposed to the typical evening dual meet times.
Shift times are as follows:
Morning Shift: 8:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m.
Afternoon Shift: 10:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Please use this space to sign up and fulfill your meet volunteer obligations at Woodside Athletic Club. Each individual meet is comprised of two work shifts and each family is required to work three different shifts per swim season.
*Please know that no matter where you decide to work, you will always be allowed to step aside and watch your swimmer’s events*
The first work shift takes place at the beginning of the meet or shortly before in some volunteer situations, and runs approximately 2 ½ hours long into the meet. The second shift begins half-way into the meet and runs until the end of the meet and is approximately 2 ½ hours long as well. The meet announcer will typically call the first and second shift workers to report for their shifts. You may choose to work either the first or second shift in a meet or work two shifts (the entire meet). By the end of the season you need to make sure that you have worked a total of 3 shifts in all, as well as one social event. If you should choose to work the full meet, please make sure to sign up under both the first shift and the second shift of the meet.
If you are timing during the first shift of a meet, there is typically a timer's meeting that is run by the official of the meet that takes place approximately 15 minutes before the start of the meet.
When you begin your shift, please check in with the marshalling, concessions, ribbons, or timing chairperson(s) and let them know you are ready to begin working.
Thank you for volunteering!
