2019 Hamtrack Labor Day Fest
COME ON DOWN TO HAMTRAMCK FOR THREE DAYS OF FUN AS THE CITY HOLDS ITS 40TH ANNUAL LABOR DAY FESTIVAL, AUGUST 31st, SEPTEMBER 1st and 2nd.
Welcome to the city of Hamtramck. For the past three decades we've celebrated Labor Day weekend with a festival on the Main Street of Joseph Campau, and the only difference for 2019 is that it will be better than ever This year's festival is being sponsored by HATCH This year's celebration features the yacht races down Jos. Campau (a Hamtramck tradition), and an assortment of crowd-pleasing events for kids and adults of all ages. Leave your bike with the Wheelhouse Detroit, sponsors of our free bike valet! We will happily valet your bike for FREE. We will be located at the northeast corner of Caniff and Jos. Campau, at the festival entrance. As always, there will be plenty of music, food and fun. With two separate stages, booths from a number of restaurants and a full line-up of carnival rides, there's never a dull moment at the Hamtramck Labor Day Festival.
We are looking for some super awesome volunteers for our fifth year at one of our favorite festivals! If you're thinking of volunteering for this event, here is what we are looking for:
- Prepared and totally cool with the variety of weather that may occur. Fiery hellscapes to flash floods. I've seen it all at this festival!
- Culturally competent or sensitive. This area has a VERY diverse population and we must be able to respect all the of cultures we encounter and meet them where they are at when it comes to mental health awareness.
- Ready to work! Understanding that while you are there, you are representing Six Feet Over and Suck It! Suicide, and we are asking for help because we need people there. Don't get me wrong, we will have fun and good times will be had, but the focus at the end of the day is the community
- Friendly, high energy, self motivated and can comfortably talk to strangers about sensitive topics like mental health and suicide and are willing to learn more about the topics
Alright! We hope to see you soon!
