Family Promise Volunteers
NOTE: We want to remind all of our volunteers to remember to practice safe physical distancing while volunteering. When inside the building, communicating with guests, and/or driving the van, masks are required for all volunteers (masks may be removed if alone in the Host Room but need to be worn when talking with another volunteer or a guest). If you are not feeling well, please serve at a later date. In addition, if you have been around someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, please do not volunteer until a 14 day period of separation from the infected person has passed.
Anyone who has been trained can volunteer! If you've not yet received formal training it can now be done virtually here. After completing the training please be sure to fill out a volunteer registration form located right outside the host room at the static site.
For more information about the work of Family Promise of Athens see our affiliate website or the website of Family Promise National.
Please view the volunteer opportunities below and click on the button(s) to sign up. Please include your affiliated organization in the My Comment box. If you are not a part of a congregation list "at large" in the box.
Our guests are staying at Milledge Avenue Baptist Church. Click here for a video of Milledge Avenue's Static Site. Follow signs around the church to the FPA entrance along a sidewalk to the back of the building. Meals can be dropped off just inside the entrance, letting the host on duty know they are on the table. The host area is on the first floor (enter the doorway beside the meal drop-off table). Volunteers can hang out in the host room or bring a camp chair to sit outside this entrance on pretty days (just take the host-site cell phone with you).
