Tri My Best Triathlon Volunteers 2019

Welcome! Thank You for taking an interest in the 5th Annual Tri My Best Triathlon- Kenosha. Tri My Best is an adaptive triathlon for children and young adults with developmental disabilities ages 5 and up. We need volunteers to make this event great for all of our athletes. To register as a volunteer please choose from the positions and time frames listed below. We have positions available for people of all age groups. If you have questions about which position would be best for you, please contact us. If you would like to volunteer for more than one time frame you may do so as well. We cannot insure that you will receive a T-Shirt if your registration is received after July 21st, 2019.

Athlete Buddy

Athlete Buddies will physically assist athletes throughout the entire course (swim, bike, run). May request specific athlete. Time requirement varies depending on heat assignments. Age Requirement: 16 years or older

Athlete Timer

Athlete Timers will keep track of their athletes’ event times as well as their transition times. They may serve as a secondary buddy. May request a specific athlete. Time requirement varies depending on heat assignments. Age Requirement: 12 years or older

Floater Buddy

Floater Buddies will be on stand-by to assist with any athletes who are missing a buddy or need an extra assistant. Must be very flexible and be willing to ask groups if they need extra help. Age Requirement: 18 years or older.

Athlete Check-In and Orientation Team

Athlete check-in team will check in athletes and escort athletes and their families to the transition area and orient them to the facilities. There will be an orientation for this position on Saturday, August 3rd at 10am.

Buddy Orientation Table

Buddy Orientation volunteers will orient the buddies to their jobs and assist them in finding their athletes.

Volunteer Check-in and Orientation Team

You will check in and escort volunteers to their assigned stations and orient them to the tasks of their job. If you sign up for this position we are asking that you attend a training on Saturday, August 3th at 10 A.M. for an orientation.

Pool announcers will announce athletes’ names before each heat, countdown to start, and run the clock.

Big Pool Check-In

Pool check-in attendants will check in each athlete prior to the start of their heat. They will direct them to a swimming lane and help their buddy gather any swim material the athlete may need. They will also confirm how far the athlete will swim.

These "swim buddies" will be designated specifically as helpers who swim with our athletes if their buddies are uncomfortable in the water. You will move between both pools.

Bike Organizers

You will be given a master list of the bikes in order to direct where they need to go and to who, making sure the correct bikes are provided and that all bikes are returned.

Equipment Manager

Equipment managers will shuttle equipment between transition areas. Heavy lifting is required. Age requirement: 16 years or older.

Transition assistants will help athletes get in and out of their bikes and equipment. Heavy lifting is involved. Age Requirement: 16 years or older.

Transition 2

Transition assistants will help athletes get off their bikes and into walking devices. Transition 2 is located half way around the bike trail. Heavy lifting involved. Age Requirement: 16 years or older.

Warm-Up Station

Volunteers will encourage athletes to stretch and get ready for the race. Must be able to assist with stretching and warm up exercises.

Changing Room Assistants

Assistants will help direct athletes into the appropriate changing rooms and offer assistance in changing the athlete.

Bib Spotter

Volunteers will watch for athletes approaching the finish line and identify their bib numbers and check the corresponding list for their names. Then they will write the names on a large white board so the announcer can congratulate them as they finish.

Finish Line Assistants

Finish line assistants will hand out medals and certificates. They will also help keep the finish line clear of spectators to ensure safety.

Body Marker

Body Markers will write the athletes' numbers on their upper arm and on their leg. They will also help pin bibs to their shirts.

Volunteers will help athletes and spectators apply tattoos and will also apply face paint.

Water station attendants will fill and hand out cups of water to athletes and volunteers as they approach the water station. Water Station 1 is located near Transition 1. Attendants will encourage athletes to slow down as they bike into transition.
