Tree of Life
Thank you for reviewing our current volunteer opportunities. We greatly appreciate your willingness to serve during this time. Our purpose is very simple:
‘To reach out to the poor and needy in our community with the love of Jesus Christ.’
The Tree of Life Community Kitchen provides a free meal to our neighbors on a weekly basis. In the current health crisis, feeding those in need is as important as ever but we also want to make sure we are protecting the health of our volunteers and those we are serving. Therefore, Tree of Life is now offering FREE TO-GO MEALS available curbside on Tuesday evenings from 6-7pm, in place of our regular community dinner event.
Would you and your group consider making 50 bags of a to-go dinner which may include:
a sandwich or burrito or wrap or hot dog,
a piece of fruit, and/or a bag of chips,
and a bottle of water?
We are asking for 4 groups/individuals to deliver 50 meals each.
Alternatively, some groups have opted to purchase meals from local restaurants and deliver those to Tree of Life to be handed out – this is a great way to feed those in need and support local businesses.
Weekly we are giving away 200+ meals in 30 minutes or less. *We will continue to-go meals throughout the summer for our partners in need.*
Because of our less-than-10-people-gathering mandate, ONE member of your group may stay to pass out the dinners at the front entrance of Crossroads Baptist Church (850 Edwards Ferry Rd NE). We would love to have the help and get to know you. If you would prefer not to stay, we are happy to pass the bags out. Please deliver them to the church at 5:30pm. Those who stay to hand out food would be done by 7:30 at the latest.
We covet the opportunity to discover the prayer requests of our partners, even though we cannot share a meal together, and pray for them during these challenging times.
Thank you for your generosity and love for the Lord.
