Members of the congregation are invited to take part in a leadership role in worship each week. The four areas we need help with are liturgist, children's sermon, nursery and fellowship.
As liturgist, you are given a script and you help to lead the worship service. The liturgist will be at the lectern in the front, read highlighted parts of the script and help lead the congregation through the bulletin with readings, songs and when to stand or be seated.
As children's sermon leader, you will be given a topic or scripture from the pastor. You are responsible for developing a fun way to present it to the children. Originality is highly encouraged:) We can help you if you have no idea where to begin so don't be afraid to give it a try.
As nursery attendant, you make yourself available to care for and play with children (ages 5 and under) in the nursery downstairs, during the service. This is only in the event that a parent wants to utilize the nursery [some parents choose to keep their kids in worship].
As fellowship time host you are responsible for fixing the coffee, bringing another drink (lemonade, punch, etc) and providing light snacks (cheese and crackers or whatever is on sale at the store if you aren't a cook). DON'T FEEL YOU MUST LAY OUT AN ENTIRE LUNCHEON! Then you are responsible for cleaning up afterwards -wiping down tables, cleaning any dishes that were used, and taking out the trash. You can recruit others to help as well.
