Otter Rock 2019-2020
**Exciting news for this year – you are now allowed to use spray paint which will make the process that much faster and even more fun!**
Reserve your spot now for the Otter Rocks! Reservations are $30 and can be paid either through the SignUp Genius or by sending in a check made out to the Ocean Palms Elementary PTO. *If the date you would like is reserved by the PTO, please contact Stephanie Marciani ([email protected]) to see if further accomodations can be made.
Once you are signed up, you will need to paint the rock the day before your allotted slot between the times of 3:30-6pm. For example, if you have the rock reserved on a Tuesday, your painting time is on Monday from 3:30-6pm. If you have reserved a rock for Monday, you will need to paint it the Friday before from 3:30-6pm.
This year you are allowed to use spray paint to paint the rocks! We are not allowed to store spray paint on school property, so you will need to supply your own. If you still would like to use paint, please use the Rustoleum brand and be sure to bring paint brushes. Painting tip: Bring a piece of chalk to write any letters/words before painting! Also, an Otter Rock Borrow Bin is located in the front office with a selection of Rustoleum paint. Help yourself to what’s in the bin or feel free to donate any leftover paint you may have for the next person.
Bring a large trash bag to take home all items/supplies after the painting is complete. You will not have access to water on site to rinse off brushes. You will need to properly discard all painting supplies at home and not on school grounds. Used paint cans are not to be placed in campus trash bins or dumpsters. Please dispose of paint cans properly off campus.
There will be no refunds, even due to the weather. Unfortunately you may have to hold an umbrella if it is raining. If you are unable to paint the rock on schedule according to your reservation (due to a conflict in your schedule, forgetfulness, weather, etc.), please contact Stephanie Marciani ([email protected]) to see about switching to a new date.
And finally, be sure to email a picture of your painted rock art to [email protected] Your photo will be added to our "Rock Collection" gallery on Facebook! By emailing a photo that includes children, parents must understand that they are giving their permission for the photo to be posted on the PTO website and/or on social media sites.
We look forward to seeing all the creative Otter Rock decorating, and we thank you for your support of the OPE PTO!
