Shelter Pals

Shelter Pals Training Event- Ranch Dogs

Do you love animals? Join the Joplin Humane Society’s Shelter Pals and spend quality time reading to adoptable pets!

Shelter Pals is a reading program that provides an opportunity for children, ages 6-15, to read to dogs/cats who are waiting to be adopted.

The program at the Joplin Humane Society will help children improve their reading skills while helping shelter animals.  Shelter Pal Readers and a parent/guardian must attend a special training event.   There is a $10 fee per child (can be paid at the shelter or over the phone prior to training event) that goes towards the cost of program supplies.

This training event will begin at 5:30 PM and we ask that you arrive 10-15 minutes early to check-in. Training is held at the Joplin Humane Society in the Education Room located at 140 E. Emperor Lane, Joplin, MO.  A light snack is provided. Space is limited so RSVP today.
