1000 Islands Environmental Center
We are starting our 6th year of the 1000 Islands Goat Project! Working with Mulberry Lane Farm, we are bringing in goats to control the invasive plant population in an environmentally friendly way.
In order to do this successfully, the goats need to be supervised during the day. 1000 Islands is looking for volunteers to supervise the goats and inform the public about the purpose of the goats. Also, Goat Watchers will be able to enter the browsing area to help pull down branches for the goats to eat. The goats will be working at the Nature Center from September 26-October 7.
We ask that you sign up for only one volunteer session to start. We have had a lot of interest in the program and want to make the opportunity available to as many people as we can. Families/Individuals are welcome to sign up for multiple slots, as they are available, starting on September 19th.
Parents, if you are bringing children with you, please include the number of children in the comment section of the signup. You will be contacted by Nature Center staff with training information to be completed before your shift.
As in previous years, we are also selling "Kaukauna Goats" t-shirts (short and long sleeve) and sweatshirts (crew neck and hooded.) Please use the link below to go to our online store through Eagle Graphics. The online store will close on September 7th in order to have the apparel ready for the arrival of the goats.
