Olmsted 200 Seed Collection Event
Seed collecting is fun for all ages, and these docent-led events are a great way to learn about Riverside's many trees and flowers. You'll also be part of a great community gift: Seeds collected during the event will be professionally preserved and artistically incorporated into an "Olmsted 200 Botanical Box" to be gifted to the Riverside Public Library on the 200th anniversary of Olmsted's birth next April.
Our guest nature guide this month is Scott Stewart, Executive Director of the Millennium Park Foundation. Dr. Stewart is deeply passionate about the value and role of public space in creating free, open, and culturally representative experiences for people. He has worked with Lurie Garden, the Park District of Oak Park, and the US Fish & Wildlife Service has published extensively on topics ranging from the evolving roles of public parks to rare plant species propagation and conservation. We are excited to have him join us!
Please RSVP below with the number of people in your party. Participants should wear long pants and socks and bring a waterbottle. We'll meet at the Swinging Bridge at noon, and venture forth from there!Date: 09/19/2021 (Sun.) Time: 12:00pm - 2:00pm CDT Location: IL
