ICS Food Bank is essential for many!
The ICS Eastside Food Bank is an essential need for many in our community, especially at this time. We are practicing the CDC guidelines for safe social distancing by distributing food bags outside as clients drive up in their vehicle. Clients do not get out of their vehicle and food is loaded directly into their car to maintain safe social distancing.
There are three areas to help: Grocery Rescue, Food Bag Packers, and Work the Food Bank:
Grocery Rescue - Help is needed to ride along to grocery stores to rescue product from grocery storys, return to sort, weigh and place in refrigerator/shelves every Monday from 8:30 am to 11:30 am.
Food Bag Packers - Help is needed to pack the bags that are distributed outside to clients. Packing volunteers are needed Tuesday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
Work the Food Bank - Help is needed to distribute pre-packaged food (in grocery carts) outside to clients cars and load in their trunks every Tuesday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
One time volunteers (not a regular ICS volunteer) are welcome to help with packing food bags. Just sign up below. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Also, consider bringing a can of food when you come for your shift!
The food distribution is outside so if you prefer please bring your sunhat, sunglasses and sunscreen. If you have protective gloves at home and can bring them to wear, please do so. as our supply is running low.
If your plans change and you are not able to fulfill your committment to volunteer, please return to the Sign Up Genius link in an email and delete your signup as far ahead of time as possible, so we know how many volunteers are coming to help.
We are grateful you are teaming up with ICS to help others in the community. We are all in this season together. We greatly appreciate you and your efforts to do whatever you can to help while also safeguarding your own health and wellness and that of your family. Thank you. We will get through this together!
