Grace's Kitchen PB&J Volunteers
Thank you so much for devoting your time to prepare PB&J sandwiches for those served by Grace's Kitchen. Here is some information that will be helpful as you prepare to make your sandwiches.
40 sandwiches are needed each week between 10:30 and 11:00 AM on Wednesday morning. You will receive a reminder email 3 days prior to your scheduled date. You can drop off your sandwiches at my home in Trace Crossings or we can talk about another arrangement. Please call or text me (Stacy) at 205-746-5060 for my address or to work out another time or location. I'd love it if you'd touch base with me on Tuesday just to let me know that you remember. I will happily sign community service forms. Since the time commitment is smaller with only 40 sandwiches needed, I suggest taking your children shopping to pick out the supplies so they can participate in the project from start to finish and make up the extra time that they might be used to spending on this service project.
What you will need:
About 5 loaves of sliced, sandwich bread (depending on number of slices in a loaf, white or wheat). Please do not use the "heel" (end pieces).
Approximately 50 oz of plain, creamy peanut butter
Approximately 32 oz of grape jam. Jam tends to spread better than jelly, but whatever works for you.
40 sandwich size zipper sealed storage bags
Since sandwiches will be refrigerated overnight, the bread tends to hold up better and not become soggy if you spread a thin layer of peanut butter on both slices and jam in the middle.
Once again, thank you for signing up and I look forward to working alongside you for Grace's Kitchen.
