NVHS Interact and Students
Thank you for volunteering to help out at the 4th annual Girl Scout Workshop! This fun and interactive Girl Scout event honors former English teacher and Orchesis leader Leslie Baumann, who lost her battle with cancer in 2014. All proceeds from this event go into the Leslie Baumann Memorial Scholarship fund. We anticipate hosting nearly 200 local Girl Scouts, aged 5 - 12, so we need as much help as possible.
The event will be held from 9-11AM on Saturday, February 16th. Your volunteer time will begin at 8:00AM in the auditorium lobby and conclude around 11:15AM once the girls leave. Your time counts toward four hours of volunteer hours. For Interact members, this event also counts as the leadership conference needed to earn a pin.
Here's how it works: throughout the morning, the Girl Scouts will participate in three, separate, 35 minutes workshops: dance, theater, and art. The leaders of each of these groups have already volunteered, so all you need to do is show up with a fun attitude at 8:00AM to learn the activities scheduled for your group. The dance volunteers will learn the dances; the theater volunteers will learn the theater games; the art volunteers will learn about the crafts. No experience necessary! The activities are simple, and we will teach you everything you need to know. All you have to do is show up and have fun with the Girl Scouts.
I also need several students to serve as group leaders. Instead of staying at the same station for all three sessions, your role will be to stay with each group and assist the girls with transitioning between workshops, bathroom and water breaks, etc.
Thank you, again, for your support. YOU are the reason this event will be a fun and rewarding homage to Leslie's memory.
