The Evansville Rescue Mission has invited our congregation to help serve dinner to their residents on the fourth Saturday of every month. The ideal size group of volunteers is 4-6 persons due to the size of the kitchen serving area. Children ages 6 and up can serve alongside their parent. Volunteers should plan to arrive at 5pm to start serving at 5:15pm.
The Rescue Mission provides and cooks the food; however, homemade desserts and ice cream are greatly appreciated from the residents. Serving is much like what cafeteria workers do at the schools. Basically you will be scooping food onto divided plates and then setting the plates on top of a counter. Once you are done serving, you are finished. They take care of all clean up.
Thank you so much for volunteering.
