2019 R.A.C.E. - Running to Assist Communities in Education

Join us on Saturday, April 6th for the 2019 R.A.C.E. - Running to Assist Communities in Education charity run/ walk to support students, teachers, and families of the Northeast and Northwest Learning Communities. 

The 2019 R.A.C.E. charity event includes a Kid's Fun Run and a 5K which will be officially timed with prizes awarded to top finishers in each category.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the following activities:

  • Provide grants to teachers, staff, and administrators of the Northeast and Northwest Learning Communitites.
  • Provide emergency funds to families in need in our community as referred by teachers, social workers, counselors, and staff in the Northeast and Northwest Learning Communities.

*Please note all adult (18 and over) volunteers will be required to complete a liability waiver prior to participation.  Students will be required to submit a signed authorization form by a parent/guardian prior to participation.  

** We will do our best to accommodate all volunteer assignment requests; however, roles may change based on event needs.

Event Set-Up (10)

Due to the time and nature of duties, we request adults only (18 and over) for this role. Volunteers will set-up tables, post route markers, and install event signage.

Volunteer Check-In (2)

Check-in volunteers, distribute materials, assist with volunteer orientation, answer questions

7:00am - 12:30pm  

Students & Student Volunteer Groups (8)

A signed waiver from each student's parent and/or guardian is required in order to participate. Students must be supervised by an authorized adult member of the group. Please have one (1) adult available for every five (5) students.


Parking Attendants (6)

Set-up parking signage, direct vehicles to parking spaces, manage sponsor and vendor parking.


Packet and T-shirt Distribution (5)

Set-up table, distribute packets and shirts to participants.


Vendor Table Check-In (3)

Check-in vendors, show vendors to their locations, and assist with vendor set-up (if requested).


Course Monitors (10)

Help direct runners/ walkers along course route; keep vehicles, bicycles, and spectators from entering course; serve as the point of contact in an emergency; and cheer runners/ walkers.


Hydration/ Cheer Stations (8)

Set-up water distribution stations at checkpoints and hand out water. Cheer runners to finish line.


Food and Beverage Distribution (3)

Set-up and manage station. Provide runners/ walkers with a snack and water after completing the race.


Floaters (3)

Fill in as requested.

11:00am - 12:30pm  

Break Down/ Clean Up (10)

Remove signage, collect trash, pack equipment, and break down tables.
